The World of Interiors & Montblanc
Submit a 500-word piece on 'Doors & Drawers' for a chance to be published in The World of Interiors January 2027 issue.
The World of Interiors and Montblanc have swung the door wide open — literally. Their 2026 Open Call for New Writing invites emerging writers from anywhere in the world to submit an original piece of up to 500 words inspired by the theme 'Doors & Drawers'.
What's concealed behind them? What's slipped down the back of a drawer and lost forever? Who's knocking? The prompt is deliberately wide — this is an invitation to be quick-witted, inventive, and surprising. Any genre or format is welcome: poetry, prose, memoir, essay, short fiction, or something that defies categorisation entirely.
The call is presented in collaboration with Montblanc, who are this year celebrating 'the art of the desk' as a place of personal reflection and creative expression.
Who can enter?
Anyone aged 18 and over, anywhere in the world. Submissions must be in English and must be your own original work — AI-generated or third-party content is not eligible.
What's on offer?
Selected writers will be featured in the January 2027 print and digital issue of The World of Interiors, with the opportunity to continue contributing to the publication. Featured writers also receive mentorship from The World of Interiors editorial team, and any work published will earn a writer's fee.
Submissions are judged by The World of Interiors editors, chaired by editor-in-chief Emily Tobin, alongside a guest editorial panel.
Submissions are free and open from 4 June to 31 August 2026. If you've submitted to The World of Interiors before, you're welcome to enter again with a new piece.
