Six-week online residency with €1,200 grant for artists creating work that disrupts, hijacks, or glitches extractive digital platforms and AI systems.
Akademie Schloss Solitude's Web Residencies programme is calling for proposals for its 22nd edition, curated by Berlin-based artist duo !Mediengruppe Bitnik (Carmen Weisskopf and Domagoj Smoljo). Titled »Ignore All Previous Instructions«, this call marks the tenth anniversary of the Web Residencies programme and invites artists to create works that challenge, disrupt, hijack, or subvert extractive digital platforms and AI systems.
The theme takes its name from a notorious prompt injection technique used to override AI rule sets — a linguistic key that, when hidden in text, metadata, or PDFs, can hijack a system's output from the inside. The curators use this as a provocation: don't follow the logics that techno-fascist platforms inscribe into their tools. Inspired by Situationist strategies like 'détournement' and the dérive, the call seeks proposals that drift with the wrong map — that invent new signals, new routes, and new structures rather than complying with the existing grid.
Six project proposals will be selected. Each selected artist or collective will receive:
Artists of all disciplines may apply — there is no age restriction, and submission is free of charge. Collectives may apply as a single applicant. Only one submission per applicant is accepted.
