Art + Australia seeks proposals from artists, curators, writers and theorists worldwide for its 2027 Open Issue (62.1), accepting essays, video, audio and more.
Art + Australia is calling for proposals for Issue 62.1, its 2027 Open Issue — an open-theme edition welcoming contributions from artists, designers, architects, curators, theorists and historians from anywhere in the world.
The editorial team is looking for proposals that interrogate art, its histories, and its broader cultural contexts. Possible directions include:
Final submissions are accepted in a wide range of formats: articles, essays, conversations (recorded or transcribed), video works, audio pieces, artworks, and coded web applets. Your intended format must be indicated in your proposal.

Fees
Art + Australia pays AUD $0.80 per word for published articles. For creative or experimental submissions, an equivalent fee is negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
