Bus Projects
Bus Projects invites artists, curators, and collectives to propose exhibitions, performances, and interdisciplinary projects for their 2027 artistic programme.
Bus Projects is calling for proposals from artists, curators, and collectives for their 2027 Artistic Programme. They're looking for experimental, socially and politically engaged work across all creative disciplines — solo or collaborative, from practitioners at any career stage.
Exhibiting at Bus Projects is completely free. Selected exhibitors receive artist fees in line with NAVA standards, install and de-install support, access to AV equipment, marketing across web and social channels, and curatorial input throughout the project development process.
The 2027 programme will feature 11 exhibitions selected through this open call, split across two spaces:
Gallery 1 (6.7 x 5.6m): Artist fee of $1,150 + 12% superannuation
Project Space (2.3 x 5.6m): Project fee of $500 + 12% superannuation
Shows run for 3 weeks, with dedicated install and de-install time. Bus Projects also provides letters of support for any additional funding applications you might need.
They're especially keen to hear from creatives who haven't previously shown with Bus Projects and from artists from historically underrepresented or structurally excluded communities.
Applications are peer-reviewed by the Artist Committee and Bus Projects staff, assessed on concept strength, artistic merit, feasibility, and contribution to a diverse programme.
A drop-in info session is held at the gallery on Sat 19 September, 10am–1pm — bring draft applications or questions.
To apply in a non-written format (video or audio), or for any access needs, contact Gallery Manager Kyle McIntyre: tabitha@busprojects.org.au
