About
Two-week artist residency in an 18th-century palazzo in the Marche region of Italy, open to all disciplines, running October–November 2026.
Casasanvito offers a two-week autumn residency running from October 24th to November 7th, 2026, hosted inside a beautifully frescoed 18th-century palazzo in Monte San Vito, a small village in the Marche region of Italy.
The residency welcomes two artists at a time and is open to all artistic disciplines — visual art, performance, writing, dance, and more. There is no prescribed theme; artists are encouraged to arrive with their own project in mind and use the time to develop their practice in a peaceful, historically rich environment.
What's included:
- A private bedroom and bathroom
- A shared 40-square-metre studio (a frescoed ballroom) with a fellow resident artist
- A shared kitchen, library, and relaxation area
- Basic studio equipment (easel and studio table)
- Monthly utilities covered
- Basic production supplies
- Airport or train station pickup from Ancona on arrival and departure days
- A welcome basket of fresh local vegetables on arrival
- Professional cleaning before your stay and mid-stay, with linen and towel changes
What's not covered:
Travel costs, meals, artwork return shipping, and any specialist production materials are at the artist's own expense. A local art supply shop in Jesi (20 minutes away) offers discounts to residents.
Community and expectations:
Artists are warmly encouraged — though not required — to take part in open studios and community talks. Casasanvito also facilitates connections with Italian art collectors. Each resident is asked to donate one artwork to the residency collection, which may be displayed in future curated exhibitions organised by the association's curator, Marta Cereda.
Getting there:
Having your own car is recommended for full independence, though free pickups are available from Ancona Airport (15 minutes) and Ancona Train Station (30 minutes). Bicycles are also available. The village itself has all essential services within a short walk.
Application requirements:
- Brief motivation letter explaining why you're applying
- PDF portfolio
- Link to Instagram or website (optional)
- Proof of payment of the €25 application fee (payable via PayPal or bank transfer)
Casasanvito is committed to inclusivity regardless of gender, race, or religion, and prioritises environmentally conscious practices. Come with a sense of adventure — this is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the landscape and rhythm of rural Italy.
