TED & POSCA (curated by Fine Acts)
A globally distributed artist residency for public, community-rooted interventions themed around repair, hope, and beauty — open to artists worldwide.
TED and POSCA, in partnership with curatorial studio Fine Acts, are launching a globally distributed artist residency — and they're searching for four artists to join the 2026 cohort.
Unlike traditional residencies, there's no central studio or single location. Selected artists work within their own communities, developing public interventions that invite participation, reflection, and collective imagination. The unifying theme for 2026 is Visible Mending — an exploration of repair as a creative and civic act, inspired in part by the Japanese practice of Kintsugi (mending broken ceramics with gold). Artists are invited to consider how wounds, ruptures, and imperfections can become sites of transformation rather than something to hide.
Projects might take the form of public installations, participatory interventions, collaborative processes, performances, workshops, temporary activations, story-based works, or hybrid approaches. Community engagement is structurally embedded — process matters as much as outcome.
Who should apply?
Visual artists, muralists, interdisciplinary artists, designers, community-based practitioners, collectives, architects, spatial practitioners, and creatives working across disciplines are all welcome. Applications are open to artists worldwide, regardless of prior connection to TED, POSCA, or Fine Acts.
Strong proposals will be rooted in a specific local context, participatory or community-engaged, conceptually strong but logistically achievable, visually and emotionally compelling, and open to documentation and storytelling collaboration. You don't need a fully resolved project — selected artists develop their proposals collaboratively with the curatorial team after selection.
What's included?
Each selected artist receives USD $15,000 to cover artist fees, production costs, community activation, and documentation. Artists also receive creative direction and storytelling support, POSCA tools and materials, and visibility through TED's and Fine Acts' global platforms.
Timeline:
This residency will run across multiple years (2026–2029), expanding the cohort annually and building an evolving global archive of civic artistic interventions.
