Artistic Director

Glass Ceiling is a national performing arts charity creating opportunities for Disabled, neurodivergent and non-disabled people to learn, create and perform together. Based in Auckland, they run programmes across Auckland, Whangārei, Tauranga and Christchurch.

This is a significant creative leadership role at the heart of everything Glass Ceiling does. As Artistic Director, you'll shape and deliver an annual programme spanning classes, productions, performances, sensory theatre experiences, films and community creative projects. You'll lead, mentor and develop a team of tutors, artists and creative staff, and play an active role in building equitable pathways for Disabled and neurodivergent artists to develop their practice.

The role also involves supporting organisational planning, safeguarding and health and safety, building partnerships across arts, disability, education and community sectors, and representing Glass Ceiling publicly as its artistic spokesperson.

Glass Ceiling is looking for someone who brings genuine artistic vision alongside a deep commitment to inclusion and accessibility — an inspiring, empathetic leader who loves developing people and bringing ambitious ideas to life.

The role is flexible: 24, 32 or full-time hours are all on the table. Some travel across Aotearoa is required to visit classes, connect with tutors and participants, and attend performances.
