Open call for international choreographers to create a new work premiering at Biennale Danza 2027 in Venice, with up to €30,000 support.
La Biennale di Venezia's Dance Department is inviting international choreographers and dance companies to apply for support to create a brand-new choreographic work that will make its world premiere at Biennale Danza 2027.
This is a genuine production opportunity — not a presentation of existing work. The project must be an original creation that has never been shown in any form, studio or otherwise. The selected work will be adapted for Biennale venues in Venice and supported with a contribution of up to €30,000, plus coverage of artistic fees for the Venice debut, travel and accommodation for the choreographer or company, and technical production costs.

Applications must be submitted via the online application form by 20 October 2026. Incomplete applications will be automatically excluded.
The selection will be made at the sole discretion of Dance Department Artistic Director Wayne McGregor, based on the submitted materials. Results will be announced by the end of November 2026.
If selected, you'll sign an agreement with La Biennale di Venezia confirming your availability and the project's feasibility for its Venice premiere. A provisional budget will be requested after selection, and all technical and logistical requirements must be agreed with the Biennale's tech and production team at least 8 weeks before the premiere.
