Stiftung Künstlerdorf Schöppingen
Funded residency in Germany for visual artists, authors and composers of all nationalities, offering €1,500/month for 2–6 months.
Stiftung Künstlerdorf Schöppingen offers funded residencies for professional visual artists, authors, and composers from any country and at any career stage. Since 2023, collectives are also welcome to apply.
Residencies run for 2–6 months, with the exact period agreed based on availability. Fellows receive a monthly stipend of €1,500, minus approximately €100–€200 for rent and operating expenses — so you keep around €1,300–€1,400 per month. Collectives receive €1,000 per person, up to a maximum of €3,000, minus the same deductions.
The residency is not structured as a production fellowship — there's no requirement to present finished work. That said, there are exhibition and presentation facilities on site if you'd like to use them. Fellows are encouraged (but not obligated) to co-organise events such as lectures, readings, or workshops, and a genuine willingness to engage with the community and other fellows is expected.
Accommodation can be arranged for partners, family members, or personal assistants, subject to availability. Anyone with physical, cognitive, or sensory disabilities is encouraged to get in touch directly to discuss accessibility needs.
Applications for 2027 residencies open on 27 June 2026 and close at midnight CET on 31 August 2026. Fellows are selected by an expert jury based on the quality of previous work, the quality and plausibility of the proposed project, and willingness to contribute to the programme and community.
