The Court Theatre in Ōtautahi Christchurch is inviting expressions of interest from playwrights, directors, independent producers, and artists for a range of exciting opportunities across 2027 and 2028.
Rainbow Theatre Festival 2027 – Producer
The Court Theatre is looking for an experienced producer to lead the Rainbow Theatre Festival 2027. This is a chance to shape a vibrant, inclusive celebration of LGBTQIA+ stories, artists, communities, and whānau. Ideal applicants will have experience in live performance, festivals, or community arts, strong organisational skills, and a genuine understanding of Rainbow communities and culturally responsive practice. Expressions of interest for this role close at 5pm on Sunday 18 October 2026.
Short Term Development Residency – 2027
A two-week residency in the Wakefield Family Front Room, offering space and structural support for independent artists developing new work in live performing arts in Aotearoa New Zealand.
2028 Season – Ideas & Partnerships
The Court Theatre is keen to collaborate with artists who have bold, original ideas for the 2028 season — whether that's new plays in development, fresh takes on existing work, or producing partnerships that push the boundaries of what's possible in Ōtautahi Christchurch theatre.
Yvette Bromley Rehearsal Room – Free Space to Hire
Free use of The Court Theatre's larger rehearsal space is available to independent and community artists and groups on selected dates in 2027. The room features natural light, adjustable blinds, a mirror wall, Bluetooth speakers, and is accessible by both stairs and lift.
