A 6-month paid residency at UTS Library in Sydney, offering $15,000 stipend plus $5,000 materials budget to create work embedded in library culture.
UTS Library is seeking a Creative in Residence for a six-month engagement running from March to September 2027. This is a community-facing, site-specific residency based at UTS Central — the university's award-winning library building in the heart of Sydney.
The residency offers $15,000 AUD in remuneration (covering time, travel, accommodation, and superannuation) plus a separate $5,000 AUD materials budget to bring your creative vision to life. Whatever you make will become part of the Library's living culture and collection.
This is not a go-away-and-make-stuff residency. You'll be present in the Library at least one day per week across 16 weeks (split across Autumn and Spring semesters), engaging with students, staff, and the wider community. You'll co-develop programming, participate in events, and be celebrated at a launch event that puts your work in front of the GLAM sector and beyond.
You'll have access to a staff library card, a computer, and all Library spaces to support your practice. A dedicated curator (Mia) and a small but enthusiastic team will support you throughout.
