HER gaze
HER gaze: Open Call for Founding Artists is a open call offered by HER gaze (AUS). Applications close on 20 December 2026. The entry fee is 30 NZD.
An online gallery for lesbian, queer women and gender-diverse artists in Aotearoa NZ and Australia is seeking founding artists for its first exhibition, opening January 2027.
HER gaze is a curated online gallery founded by photographic artist Gabrielle Lewis in Ōtautahi Christchurch, created to bring together the work of lesbian, queer women and gender-diverse fine artists in one dedicated space — visible, undiluted, and seen on its own terms.
The gallery is now inviting founding artists to join its first exhibition, opening online on 20 January 2027.
Who can apply:
Lesbian, queer women and gender-diverse fine artists living in Aotearoa New Zealand or Australia, at any career stage — emerging or established, your work is welcome.
Eligible mediums:
Paintings, works on paper, sculpture and ceramics, textiles and fibre art, limited-edition photography and prints, artist books, photobooks, and limited-edition poetry.
What you get:
Four spaces in the gallery, held for twelve months. When a work sells, the space is yours again — simply send a new work to fill it. The roster is small and curated, so each artist is shown meaningfully to collectors rather than lost in a crowd.
Costs:
Limited supported places are available — if the entry fee is a barrier, reach out to hello@hergaze.art.
How to apply:
Visit www.hergaze.art, read the guide, complete the form with your details, a short statement and four works, then pay the NZ$30 entry fee.
Applications close Sunday 20 December 2026.
