Collected Light – Open Call for Submissions

Collected Light is an open-call group exhibition at Photosynthesis, a photography community space in Sydenham, Christchurch. You can submit between one and three photographic works for consideration.

Works can span any photographic format or process — silver gelatin prints, inkjet prints, cyanotypes, photo books, zines, and more are all welcome. You'll need to provide final outside dimensions (including any frame or mount) at the time of submission, so have those measurements ready before you begin. If you're planning to print your work at one of Photosynthesis's November workshops, enter the final size you intend to make — any later changes will need approval from Photosynthesis.

For each work, you'll submit a title, a brief description covering the subject, process and ideas behind the piece, display plans (including any hardware you'll supply), and up to three representative images (JPG or PNG preferred, max 10 MB each). Works can be offered for sale; Photosynthesis takes a 20% commission on any sales.

Volunteering at the exhibition — helping with install, opening night, or gallery staffing — is optional but welcome.

The submission deadline is 1 November 2026 at 11:59 pm NZDT.
