Indian Ink Theatre Company
A backstage programme for Auckland rangatahi aged 18–29 to learn theatre-making through workshops, retreats, and mentorship with Indian Ink.
Next Gen is Indian Ink Theatre Company's development programme for emerging theatre-makers aged 18–29 based in Auckland. Think of it as a backstage pass to how one of New Zealand's most celebrated theatre companies creates its work — from writing and directing to performing, producing, and beyond.
The 2026–2027 cohort runs from December 2026 to June 2027, and includes a mix of workshops, creative retreats, and community-building gatherings. Participants will be involved in the development of a new Indian Ink play, attend two creative retreats, see shows together, and take part in workshops covering producing, mask-making, goal setting, theatre reviewing, and more.
For a select few, there's also the opportunity to extend into a mentorship or internship with Indian Ink from July to November 2027.
First gatherings to note
To apply, you need to be aged 18–29, based in Auckland, and genuinely passionate about theatre. Applications close at 5pm on 2 November 2026, with notifications by 10 November.
