Industry Internship Programme 2027 — Artist Management is a job / employment offered by New Zealand Music Commission (NZ). Applications close on 23 November 2026. Funding or payment: NZ Living Wage (paid position). It is free to enter.
A paid 16-week internship at an artist management company, offering hands-on experience in release campaigns, A&R, social media, touring, sync, and the business side of NZ music careers.
This paid internship places you inside a small artist management company for approximately 16 weeks starting February 2027, working two days per week (16 hours) with flexible days.
You'll work alongside the team day-to-day, getting real insight into how music careers are built and managed. Responsibilities include helping coordinate a single release campaign, supporting timeline and calendar management, assisting with social media content planning and playlist pitching, data management and reporting, and keeping communication flowing with artists and other stakeholders. You'll also help set up and run writing sessions at the in-house recording studio and attend fortnightly A&R meetings.
Across the placement, you'll get exposure to touring, brand partnerships, publishing and sync, funding applications, and royalties management.
To thrive in this role you'll need strong organisational and communication skills, attention to detail, and comfort with everyday digital tools like email, Google Drive, spreadsheets and social media. Most importantly, you'll be passionate about New Zealand music and genuinely curious about the business side of the industry.
The Industry Internship Programme has been running since 2018, placing interns into recording studios, events companies, live venues, PR firms, publishing houses and more. All positions are paid at the NZ Living Wage rate. Please note there are a reduced number of placements available in 2027 due to budget constraints.
Applications close 5PM Monday 23 November 2026.
