Choirs Aotearoa New Zealand (CANZ) is seeking an exceptional Music Director to lead Voices New Zealand — Aotearoa's professionally run national chamber choir — across a fixed-term, project-based contract from 2027 to 2029.
Founded in 1998, Voices NZ performs 3–5 projects per year as an ensemble of 24 singers (and up to 70 for symphonic works), partnering with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, Chamber Music New Zealand, and international festivals.
The Role
As Music Director, you will define and evolve the artistic vision of Voices NZ, design and lead innovative choral programmes, and conduct national and occasional international tours. You'll work closely with CANZ's management team and the Manager of Artistic Planning and Outreach to deliver a three-year programme pathway within agreed budgets.

Who You Are
You bring exceptional conducting credentials, a deep commitment to artistic innovation, and strong cultural responsiveness — particularly an understanding of (or genuine willingness to engage with) Te Ao Māori and Pasifika musical traditions. You have experience planning and delivering performances at an international standard, and ideally connections within global choral and music festival networks.
