Q Theatre
Lead one of Auckland's most iconic performing arts venues as Chief Executive, driving vision, relationships, and financial sustainability.
Q Theatre is seeking a visionary Chief Executive / Tumu Whakarae to lead one of Auckland's most beloved performing arts venues. Since opening in 2011, Q Theatre has been the beating heart of Tāmaki Makaurau's performing arts scene — a home for bold, boundary-pushing work across theatre, dance, festivals, and more.
With three theatre spaces plus a bar and restaurant, Q is beloved by artists and audiences alike. The organisation is committed to celebrating diversity, amplifying underrepresented voices, and honouring Te Ao Māori — making art accessible and ensuring everyone feels welcome.
This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of a culturally significant organisation. As CE, you'll drive Q's strategic vision, build and nurture relationships with artists, funders, donors, and stakeholders, and ensure the venue remains financially sustainable and creatively vibrant. Capital works, fundraising, and strengthening Q's financial position will be key priorities.
You'll bring 10+ years of senior leadership experience, proven financial and strategic management skills, a commercial mindset, and genuine passion for the performing arts. Experience in fundraising, the creative industries, not-for-profits, or hospitality is advantageous. A deep commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and connection to diverse communities is essential.
Working alongside a passionate team and dedicated Board, you'll be the guiding force behind everything Q does — paving the way to a bold and sustainable future.
