The Industry Internship Programme has been connecting emerging music professionals with host organisations across Aotearoa since 2018. All internships are paid at the NZ Living Wage rate, and interns are mentored throughout their placement — building skills, knowledge, and industry networks in a supported environment.
This particular placement is based in Wellington and starts in February 2027, running for approximately 16 weeks at two days per week (16 hours total per week, with flexible days).
As Music Collection & Digital Content Assistant, you'll be embedded in a busy non-profit arts service organisation, contributing to the preservation and accessibility of New Zealand music scores and collections. Day-to-day tasks include cataloguing and integrating scores into the collection, preparing materials for deposit with the National Library and Ngā Taonga Sound and Vision, auditing and updating the online catalogue, assisting with copywriting and digital content creation, and uploading event listings and resources to the website.
This role suits someone with a genuine interest in archival practices and cultural collections. You'll need strong attention to detail, solid digital literacy, and the ability to read notated music at a basic level to support accurate cataloguing. A collaborative approach and commitment to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles are essential.
Note: Due to budget constraints, there are a reduced number of placements available this year. Applications close 5PM Monday 23 November 2026.
