About
Fully funded fall craft residency in rural New Jersey offering studio access, accommodation, and a stipend for makers in six disciplines.
Peters Valley School of Craft, nestled within the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area in Layton, New Jersey, invites applications for the Maxwell/Hanrahan Guest Artist Residency 2026. Funded by the Maxwell/Hanrahan Foundation, this fully funded fall residency offers craft practitioners dedicated, uninterrupted time to develop new work in a tranquil rural setting.
The residency is open to makers working across six disciplines: Blacksmithing, Ceramics, Fibers, Jewellery / Fine Metals, Wood, and Printmaking. Residencies run in either two-week (2–16 November 2026) or three-week (2–23 November 2026) blocks, with Printmaking available for the two-week block only.
What's included:
- Free, unlimited access to a fully equipped specialist studio (utilities included)
- Private bedroom in a furnished shared house at no cost
- A living stipend: $600 USD for a two-week stay, $900 USD for three weeks
Applicants must have hands-on experience with relevant studio equipment and be able to work independently without on-site technical supervision. A personal vehicle is required, given the remote campus location.
Residents are responsible for sourcing and bringing their own materials, tools, and supplies, and for preparing their own meals (a shared kitchen is available).
How to apply: Submit via Submittable — create or log in to your profile, complete the application form, upload your portfolio, select your preferred duration track, and pay the non-refundable $10 USD application fee.
The programme is open to international applicants at all career stages, from emerging makers to seasoned professionals.
