General Manager is a job / employment offered by Quarry Arts Centre / Northland Craft Trust (Whangārei, NZ). Applications closed on 15 November 2024. Funding or payment: $90,000 – $100,000 NZD per year. It is free to enter.
Full-time General Manager role leading Quarry Arts Centre in Whangārei — a community arts centre with particular strength in ceramics, studios, workshops and exhibitions.
Quarry Arts Centre in Whangārei is looking for a General Manager to lead one of Northland's most loved creative spaces. Established in 1982, the Quarry is operated by Northland Craft Trust and brings together professional and emerging artists, learners and the wider community through studios, workshops, exhibitions, events, retail and kiln services — with particular strength in ceramics.
This is a full-time, hybrid role reporting to the Board, responsible for the day-to-day leadership and long-term sustainability of the organisation across three key areas: People, Place and Programme.
People – You'll build a capable, supported team and maintain trusted relationships with studio holders, volunteers, mana whenua, local government, schools, arts organisations and community partners. You'll give practical effect to the Quarry's commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and support culturally responsive practice across the organisation.
Place – You'll oversee the safe, accessible and well-maintained buildings, studios, grounds, equipment and shared spaces that make the Quarry tick. This includes health and safety oversight, maintenance planning, lease administration and capital development planning.
Programme – You'll facilitate an integrated annual programme of workshops, exhibitions, events, markets, open days, kiln services and collaborative projects. You'll manage The Maker's Shop and the Wood-Fired Kilns Programme, and guide marketing and audience development so people know what the Quarry offers and feel welcome.
Financially, you'll lead budgeting, cash flow, forecasting and funder relationships, working closely with the Finance Committee on reserves and long-term sustainability.
The ideal candidate will bring demonstrated organisational leadership, strong people management skills, financial capability, successful fundraising experience and a genuine appreciation for ceramics and artist-led practice. Experience in a community arts or charitable organisation, or working with a governing board, would be an advantage.
Salary: $90,000 – $100,000 per year. Applications close midnight Sunday 15 November.
